Survivor: Island of the Idols Draft – Week 1

Kicking off this season, a 90-minute premiere episode gave viewers extensive insight into who everyone was, and offered up sizeable point numbers for the draft. Who clinched a Week 1 victory? And who’s got a long way to go if they wanna catch up?

This season, I am joined by three former Survivor contestants to draft five players between us. They are: Carolyn Rivera, Survivor: Worlds Apart Co Runner-Up; Jessica Lewis, Survivor: Millennials vs Gen X Contestant; and Bret LaBelle, Survivor: Millennials vs Gen X & The Amazing Race 31 Contestant.

Here are the current standings after Week 1:

While we had an exciting premiere (all recapped and reviewed later this week), the point opportunities weren’t too great to begin with. As the episode featured a combined Reward/Immunity Challenge, the winners (the Vokai tribe) each earned 8 points in total. This gave: Carolyn 16, since she has 2 Vokai members; Jessica 24, for having 3 Vokai members; myself 32, for having 4 Vokai members; and Bret only 8, since Janet is the only Vokai member on his team.

As Elizabeth was sent to the Island of the Idols, she immediately earned 2 points. After choosing to take on Rob in the fire-making challenge, to possibly earn an idol, Elizabeth potentially could have earned 7 points (2 for winning the challenge, and 5 for possessing an idol). This however, was not the case, as Elizabeth lost and removed 2 points from Bret’s team, keeping him at 8.

At Tribal Council, Ronnie was the first person voted out which took away 10 points from Bret’s team, pushing him to a firm -2 points to begin the season with.

It’s safe to say that Lairo needs to pick up their game if Bret wants to stay close with the rest of us this early in the season. Alternatively, if someone’s brave enough to take on Rob or Sandra at the Island of the Idols in the future, some massive point possibilities are in play that can make or break any of our draft teams.

The point system used for the draft is as follows.

This draft will be updated weekly as the season progresses.
